Mary DeMarle, a prolific writer and narrative lead known for crafting the story of Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy, will serve as the Senior Narrative Director on BioWare's next Mass Effect game. Mass Effect 4 has been teased by BioWare over the last few months, and DeMarle seems like a natural fit to craft the project's story. While her involvement certainly bodes well for the next installment in the sci-fi RPG saga, it is probably bad news for any potential sequels to Marvel's GOTG.
Released in 2021, Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy takes players on a quirky cosmic adventure alongside the ragtag group of galactic outlaws. Despite some uncertainty surrounding the game before launch, Eidos-Montreal managed to impress fans with a heartfelt and hilarious narrative coupled with engaging third-person gameplay. Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy centers around themes of loss and regret, with each member of the team being tempted by the opportunity to reunite with dead loved ones that still haunt them. Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy is also funny, however, with narrative lead Mary DeMarle finding a balance between comedy and drama that resulted in a truly effective adaptation.
