Guardians of the Galaxy Game Narrative Director Joins BioWare
Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy was not the critical or sales success that Eidos Montreal and Square Enix necessarily were hoping for. Despite that, the action-adventure game managed to tell one of the best stories of 2021, winning multiple awards including Best Narrative at The Game Awards that year. That's in no small part due to Guardians of the Galaxy's executive narrative director Mary DeMarle. It seems DeMarle has left Eidos Montreal behind now, however, as she recently confirmed she's joined BioWare.
DeMarle confirmed her hiring to BioWare with a post on LinkedIn shared on Friday. DeMarle shared a short message with her followers, announcing that she's «happy to share» that she's joined BioWare in the role of Senior Narrative Director. Her LinkedIn confirms that DeMarle left Eidos Montreal at the start of July, so she's only freshly begun with BioWare and understandably has no further information to share about what's coming next.

The transition to BioWare comes after a very impressive run of eight-and-a-half years at Eidos Montreal. Guardians of the Galaxy may stand out as DeMarle's major accomplishment given her role on the project, but she also served as a narrative designer and lead writer on Deus Ex: Human Revolution followed by a promotion to executive narrative director for Deus Ex: Mankind Divided. Even before her work at Eidos Montreal, DeMarle wrote for Myst 3, Myst 4, and Homeworld 3.
Needless to say, DeMarle is quite the hire for BioWare. The big question then is which project DeMarle will be working on at BioWare. It would be a bit late for DeMarle to come in for Dragon Age: Dreadwolf, though there's certain to be more coming from the
