Star Wars: The Old Republic is an MMO set 300 years or so after the events of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. While not set exactly in the same time period, fans of BioWare's classic RPG may find some similarities in the 2011 MMO. Star Wars: The Old Republic seeks to continue the stories of the RPGs, for example, as well as featuring some rich lore from the Star Wars universe thousands of years before the events of the films take place.
While Star Wars: The Old Republic has not always pleased its fans, since its release it has consistently provided new updates for players, further expanding on the story and giving them a reason to come back. According to BioWare, a large part of the creative process in Star Wars: The Old Republic's updates and expansions such as The Rise of the Hutt Cartel and Legacy of the Sith was Creative Director Charles Boyd, who announced recently that he will soon be leaving BioWare.

Boyd began his career at BioWare working as a writer for the MMO back in 2006, helping work on the story of the Trooper, one of the main classes in Star Wars: The Old Republic. Boyd then went on to become a Lead Writer for Star Wars: The Old Republic in 2013 before being promoted to Creative Director in 2016. «Even after almost sixteen years,» Boyd said regarding his departure. «I still can’t fully believe how lucky I’ve been to work onStar Wars: The Old Republic.» Speaking further on his experience with the team working on the MMO, Boyd stated: «I don’t think I can ever fully express how much I’ve admired and appreciated working with them every single day.»
