Maddie Poppe, the American Idol season 16 winner, was the surprise celebrity unmasked at The Masked Singer tour in Omaha. Maddie auditioned for the singing competition show in 2017, the show's first season on ABC, and with a new set of judges after being canceled on Fox in 2016. During her audition, the contestant received three yeses from judges Lionel Richie, Katy Perry, and Luke Bryan. While on the show, Maddie sang covers of songs like «Landslide» by Fleetwood Mac and «Homeward Bound» by Simon & Garfunkel. During the finale, she performed her winner's song «Going Going Gone» and beat finalists Caleb Lee Hutchinson and Gabby Barrett.
Fox announced The Masked Singer tour in November, and the show made its first stop in St Louis on May 28. The tour is hosted by season 6 contestant Natasha Bedingfield, who performed on the show as Pepper and went home during week 8. Fans attending can expect to see some of their favorite characters from the seven seasons of the show, including Robot, Pepper, and season 1 winner, Monster. Each show will feature a local celebrity reveal as it makes stops in all 50 US states. The tour will run through the end of July, concluding in Las Vegas on July 30.

The tour recently made a stop in Omaha, where Maddie was revealed as Boom Boom Box, a brown furry 80s styled stereo. Maddie shared a post on Instagram where she thanked the tour for having her and shared updated and 2019 throwback photos of her and host Natasha.
