Both AMD & NVIDIA managed to increase their AIB GPU shipments in Q4 2023, marking a good end of the year for the discrete segment.
The latest market survey is out from Jon Peddie Research and covers the AIB Discrete GPU markets which includes graphics cards. It is reported that the graphics card shipments increased by 6.8% vs the previous quarter and 32% vs the previous year. Starting Q1 2000, a total of 2.3 billion AIB GPUs have been shipped which adds to a total value of $482 Billion.
When it comes to the market share breakdown, AMD was the one to gain +2 points with its share rising to 19% (17% last quarter) which mainly clawed away NVIDIA's share which remains at a dominant position of 80% (82% last quarter). Meanwhile, Intel still holds just 1% market share and that's despite its Arc A770, A750, and A580 lineup being available in the mainstream market at attractive price points.
Further diving into the market share statistics, the total number of AIB units increased by 32% which now sits at 9.5 million units, and were also increased versus the previous quarter (8.9m units in Q3 2023).
