During Sony's PlayStation showcase yesterday, Alan Wake 2 received its first gameplay trailer, and according to Remedy, this trailer was entirely running on PlayStation 5.
The gameplay trailer that debuted during Sony's showcase was an impressive one for sure, and Remedy's Communications Director, Thomas Puha, has now taken to Twitter to clarify that this trailer wasn't running on a beefy PC setup. Instead, the trailer that was shown was "100%" running on Sony's console. Puha added that, with Alan Wake 2, the team aims to deliver the best-looking game of 2023.
"The Alan Wake 2 trailer in the PlayStation Showcase was 100% running on PlayStation 5", the Communications Director writes on Twitter. "I want to really point that out. We did say in 2021 that we are gonna push the graphics hard on this one. I think we'll have the best-looking game in 2023."
Interesting stuff for sure and we can't wait to get our hands on this highly-anticipated sequel.
In other Alan Wake 2-related news - following the reveal of the gameplay trailer, Remedy also updated its FAQ page, and interestingly, Alan Wake 2 will be a digital-only title. As such, those interested won't be able to buy this game on disc. In the same FAQ, Remedy explained why the game will only be released digitally.
"There are many reasons for this", the FAQ reads. "For one, a large number of have shifted to digital only. You can buy a Sony PlayStation 5 without a disc drive and Microsoft’s Xbox Series S is a digital-only console. It is not uncommon to release modern games as digital-only."
In the FAQ, Remedy adds, "Secondly, not releasing a disc helps keep the price of the game at $59.99 / €59.99 and the PC version at $49.99 / €49.99.
