2023 Devolver Direct Date Announced, Will Feature The Return of Volvy - Hardcore Gamer
We’re about to enter the summer gaming showcase season, headlined by the likes of Summer Game Fest and the Xbox Summer Games Showcase. But one particular presentation that has become more and more welcome with each year is the Devolver Direct, Devolver Digital’s annual showcase that highlights some of their upcoming games and possibly threatens to destroy the world and/or reality, depending on what happens. This year’s presentation is set for June 8, and from the looks of it, will feature the announcements of at least four new games, as hinted by Devolver in a recent tweet.
These titles will join a whopping fourteen other games Devolver has in the pipeline, including the enhanced Bleak Sword DX port and the still-in-Early-Access Phantom Abyss, the vast majority of which are still set for a release sometime later this year. So all of this (which is just all the games that we know of, anyway) should make for an amazing Devolver Direct, but the biggest reason to to tune in involves the reveal that this year’s showcase will finally highlight the return of one of gaming’s most legendary mascots and the star of numerous classic titles. That’s right, it’s time for the return of…uh…Volvy!
Volvy is set to reappear in what is described as a “return, reboot and rebirth,” and considering Volvy’s varied and definitely not made up career over the past several decades, we’re on pins and needles, eagerly anticipating this bold new direction.
