2023 was an excellent year for gaming, particuarly for RPGs. Fans of roleplaying games had plenty to choose from this year, and there was a little something for everyone. Open-world titles like were highly anticipated, and the CRPG became the best-reviewed game of the year., an indie game, was a standout in a year full of AAA releases in the genre.
The RPG field was crowded in 2023, but ten games managed to stand out from the rest, receiving praise from critics and players alike. For Screen Rant's best RPGs of the year, DLC was not included, no matter its size (so no for ).
