Yu-Gi-Oh! Breaks World Record For TCG Tournament Entrants After 12 Years
thegamer.comYu-Gi-Oh! just broke the Guinness World Record for the most entrants in a trading card game tournament, shattering its own record. This year, 7,443 people took part in the 10th Yu-Gi-Oh! Champion Series Japan tournament held at the Tokyo Big Sight.
It also earned a Guinness World Record for the largest number of people playing against each other in the same venue at once.
The record was previously held by Konami for Yu-Gi-Oh! as well. Back in 2012, over 4,000 people took part in the 100th Championship Series tournament.
The winner of this double-record-breaking tournament was Yutaro Takahashi, beating over 7,000 other entrants for the top prize. "I am happy to be a champion!" Takahashi said. "It was thanks to the practice with my friends whom I met through Yu-Gi-Oh! OCG. I will do my best to win the next event as well."
On May 23, Yu-Gi-Oh! continues its 25th-anniversary celebrations with a second Rarity Collection, boasting "twice as many Ultra & Secret Rares per pack".
The booster pack even brings back Silent Magician & Silent Swordsman after an eight-year hiatus, just in time for April's Legacy of Destruction booster set which dropped last week.

Later in the year, Konami will be holding the World Championship in the USA for the first time since 2016. It will take place in Seattle, Washington from September 7-8 with four categories of tournaments - TCG, Master Duel, Duel Links, and Speed Duel.
Ahead of the World Championships, qualifiers will be held in the following countries:
Yu-Gi-Oh! is a long and storied trading card game based on the manga series, with more than 20 years behind it. Billions of cards have been sold over numerous different sets, leading to a deep tactical experience.
