Google owned YouTube is introducing a new layout for its iPhone and Android mobile applications full-screen player. The video player mobile app is getting a new, redesigned user interface for full screen that will make it easier to like, dislike, comment, and share videos. The users will get a row of buttons even on full screen mode in YouTube while watching a video. This will eliminate the need for users to swipe up or shut the full-screen window to access several options while watching the video, which was a big pain point earlier.
All the buttons will appear on the screen only when video will be paused or you tap on the screen, otherwise these will stay hidden and not interrupt your viewing experience. Among several options, there will also be a like and dislike button, as well as comments option that will allow you to open the comments in a small sidebar to the right.
The Youtube full screen mode will also get a dedicated button to share the video and one to save it to a playlist. YouTube has also added a section for More Videos in the bottom right corner on the screen.
Though all these options were available to the YouTube app, users had to previously exit the full screen mode to access these buttons in the portrait layout, or use a swipe up gesture. But, now, users will get these options in full screen mode as well.
The new YouTube full screen feature is rolling out to both iPhone and Android users, but apparently, it will not be available for all at one go. This means it is available for some of the users only and others may have to wait a bit to get the update on their phone.
