One behind-the-scenes glimpse into the making of Young Sheldonseason 6 seems to imply that The Big Bang Theory spinoff could explain one of the main character’s famous flaws. Young Sheldon and The Big Bang Theory have been known to diverge when it comes to some details of their shared lead character’s life. The sitcom spinoff has a different tone from its predecessor and, as such, can sometimes end up contradicting The Big Bang Theory’s version of events.
However, Young Sheldon season 6 will explain at least one Big Bang Theory character inconsistency if the evidence found in a behind-the-scenes photo is to be believed. Young Sheldon star Ian Armitage recently shared a photo of himself watching a Big Bang Theory season 5 scene, with the actor claiming that he was “doing research.” The actor's choice of The Big Bang Theory episode appears to prove that Young Sheldon season 6 could justify one major character flaw.

Sheldon is extremely, shamelessly clingy throughout The Big Bang Theory, often expecting his friends to drop everything and tend to his needs. This is particularly notable when he expects Penny to care for him while he’s ill, while Sheldon would be unlikely to afford her the same treatment and is averse to social contact in general. Much like Young Sheldon season 5 explained Sheldon’s “spot” by showing where the character’s struggle with personal space came from, Young Sheldon season 6 may do the same for his dramatic clinginess.
