Netflix has confirmed that filming has begun on Young Royals season 2. The series, which was created by Lisa Ambjörn, Lars Beckung, and Camilla Holter, is a Swedish teen drama that premiered on July 1, 2021. It stars Edvin Ryding as Prince Wilhelm, a controversial royal figure who is sent to an elite prep school called Hillerska in Stockholm after getting in a highly publicized fight. The rest of the cast is filled out by Malte Gårdinger, Frida Argento, Nikita Uggla, and Omar Rudberg as Wilhelm's love interest, Simon.
Although Young Royals season 1 was only six episodes long, it covered a lot of ground story-wise. In addition to Wilhelm's sexual awakening, the series covers exciting twists and turns including him becoming first in line for the throne after an unexpected accident and an international video scandal. His future at Hillerska is now in question as he is torn between his royal duties and his school as well as his bonds with his new friends and his secret relationship with Simon.
