The Last of Us: Part 1 will make its PC debut later today, and despite demanding some pretty hefty specifications, it looks like it’s Steam Deck verified. Valve appears to have let the cat out of the bag, with the game included on some promotional banners for the handheld. Obviously, we’ll need to wait a few more hours for official confirmation – and we’ll update this article as soon as we know more.
Steam Deck has become a pretty important consideration for PC developers, as the handheld has been steadily increasing in popularity among enthusiasts. Sony, in general, has been pretty good at supporting the device: Horizon Zero Dawn was one of the first major titles to be properly benckmarked on the portable, and God of War has also proven popular on the device.
It’s particularly interesting to see Sony published games become an increasingly important cog in the Steam Deck’s catalogue, because many PlayStation fans feel the platform holder did PS Vita a disservice by pulling first-party support so soon. While Valve’s handheld certainly has its fair share of flaws – it’s enormous, for starters – it’s fascinating to see these major franchises playable on another manufacturer’s handheld machine.

I presumed this would be the case — all of the Sony ports thus far work great on the Deck.
