The creators of Yellowjackets, the thrilling series that follows a girls' soccer team after they're stranded in the wilderness after a plane crash, recently teased that the show may include a third timeline. Yellowjackets premiered on Showtime in November 2021 and follows the main characters both during their time in the wilderness through flashbacks, as well as the surviving characters 25 years later. Even after the end of season 1, much of what happened in those missing 25 years remains a mystery.
The series is created by Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson who also are executive producers and showrunners along with Jonathan Lisco. In Yellowjackets season 1, several characters in the adult timeline are asked by others about how the Yellowjackets survived for so long in the wilderness, and what it was like to finally return home. Every adult character gives short and vague responses, partly because the viewer soon finds out that some of the events that take place in the woods are unspeakably traumatizing.

Lyle, Nickerson, and Lisco recently sat down with Kate Arthur, Editor-At-Large for Variety, to discuss the series, including the possibility that season 2 may involve a third timeline. This potential third timeline would take place during the time immediately after the characters who survive the wilderness are rescued and back home. Although the creators don't directly state that this third timeline will happen in Yellowjackets season 2, after Arthur poses the question of that third timeline, Lyle states, "their lives post-rescue is something we've very much talked about exploring in the future."
