Showrunners Ashley Lyle, Jonathan Lisco, and Bart Nickerson give a promising update on production for Yellowjackets season 2. Yellowjackets premiered on Showtime last November and instantly proved to be a success. The series was renewed for Yellowjackets season 2 in December after only half of season 1 had aired.
Yellowjackets tells the story of a high school girl soccer team in 1996 who must survive in the wilderness after their plane crashes on their way to a national tournament. Season 1 is split into two timelines, following the plane crash survivors attempting to endure their nineteen months in the wilderness and in their current lives in 2021. Sophie Nélisse, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Sophie Thatcher, and Sammi Hanratty star as the teenage versions of Shauna, Taissa, Natalie, and Misty while Melanie Lynskey, Tawny Cypress, Juliette Lewis, and Christina Ricci portray their adult counterparts. Ella Purnell and Courtney Eaton also star as teen Jackie and Lottie in Yellowjackets season 1. In Yellowjackets season 2, the series will continue to unravel the mystery behind the girls' nineteen-month ordeal and revisit the winter storyline teased in Yellowjackets season 1.
