Xbox Live Gold has been around for years, and it was your main go-to subscription service if you just wanted online multiplayer. Of course, with the subscription, you would get some extra goodies, like a couple of free game titles to claim, along with access to deals specifically curated for subscribers. However, today through the Xbox Wire, we are finding out that Microsoft is getting rid of the Xbox Live Gold for an Xbox Game Pass Core. Fortunately, if you’re a subscriber to Xbox Live Gold, there’s nothing you need to do, as the transition will happen seamlessly.
Likewise, don’t expect much to change. You’re still getting access to deals and online multiplayer. Additionally, you’ll find that all the games you’ve acquired through Xbox Live Gold will remain in your library just as long as you’re a subscriber to Xbox Game Pass Core. But you will find that the free monthly games will be removed. In the future, you’ll get a catalog of over 25 video game titles instead of getting a couple of free games per month. With that said, some of these games could vary over time and by country. Likewise, it’s noted that there will be titles added to the collection two or three times each year. Meanwhile, if you want more games, upgrading your subscription to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate is suggested, which will give you access to the entire Game Pass catalog, all the benefits of Xbox Game Pass Core, and access to EA Play. Likewise, you won’t find anything is changing with the Xbox Game Pass standard edition. This will continue to give you access to the entire Game Pass catalog and member deals. But you won’t find online console multiplayer
