Warning: contains a preview for X-Men #9!
In a preview for X-Men #9 — by Gerry Duggan, C.F. Villa, Marte Gracia, and Clayton Cowles — shared by Marvel Comics, the devious minds behind Orchis are devising a plan that promises to turn the mutant paradise of Krakoa into a slaughterhouse akin to the brutal scenes from Battle Royale.
Orchis is an organization formed by scientists recruited from many groups in the Marvel Universe, such as A.I.M., S.W.O.R.D., H.A.M.M.E.R., S.H.I.E.L.D., and Hydra. Their purpose is to prepare for a doomsday scenario in which the proliferation of homo superior threatens the survival of the human race. To do so, they are creating advanced anti-mutant technology such as Master Mold and Nimrod. Orchis are perhaps the most dangerous enemies that the mutant nation of Krakoa has to face, especially after they were able to successfully build Nimrod, the ultimate form of Sentinel. However, the X-Men have been also busy dealing with other villains, such as M.O.D.O.K., the techno-organic organism created by Advanced Idea Mechanics, who recently staged an attack on a cruiseliner to test a new drug that triggers aggressive responses in the human brain. His «experiment» was stopped by the X-Men, but now M.O.D.O.K.'s research has fallen into even more dangerous hands.
