Winds of Sanctuary, Diablo-Themed Event in WoW, Rewards Baal'ial Battle Pet and Experience Buff
The latest 10.1 PTR build has added an intriguing new Diablo-themed event, Winds of Sanctuary, and rewards including the Baal'ial battle pet and experience buff! While this event is not testable on the PTR, we've found lots of hints in the data, outlined in our post below.
Diablo EventThe 10.1event Welcome to Sanctuary has the description «Strange winds blow in from another world. Sightings of odd, bag-holding creatures spot the land, and heroes are filled with renewed vigor. Treasure Goblins can be spotted from TBD to TBD. The Winds of Sanctuary blow in from TBD to TBD» The dates are hidden for now, but this could line up with the Diablo 4 launch in June to keep WoW players interested in Azeroth!
Battle Pet RewardThere is also a new achievement related to this promotion, and battle pet reward Baa'lial Soulstone:
NEW Owner of the Baal'ial pet. Also known as the Lord of Lies, Baa'lial is a master of deceit.While we don't know the appearance of this pet yet, it shares a very similar name to Baa'ls Darksign, a demonic goat awarded from solving a secret in Battle for Azeroth. Baal'ial and the related achievement is also a clear wordplay on Belial, Lord of Lies, one of the Lesser Evils of the Burning Hells from Diablo III.
Additional RewardsThis build also added some Diablo-themed items: Wirt's Leg, the cosmetic back piece Treasure Nabbin' Bag that seems themed after treasure goblins, Horadric Haversack which is a 16 slot bag, and Enmity Bundle/Ensemble: Enmity Hood and Cloak that could be a hood/cloak transmog ensemble in the aesthetic of Diablo's art.
Experience BuffFinally, the new spell Winds of Sanctuary seems to indicate we'll get an experience and reputation buff for the duration of the event:
