Golden weapons have been a part of Overwatch since the original game was released in 2016, and they often symbolize accomplishment with a specific hero. These sought-after cosmetics are earned through spending 3,000 Competitive Points, which, as the same suggests, are gained through playing Competitive matches. While Overwatch 2 just came out, one player has already unlocked one of these guns, albeit unintentionally and temporarily.

During a recent game, a user known as Yama-k managed to record a clip featuring an unusual bug regarding golden weapons in Overwatch 2. The glitch happened while playing as Ana on the Garden section of Lijiang Tower, a Control map in Overwatch 2. The bug appeared as the player was on one of the bridges close to the objective. After throwing a Biotic Grenade at the ground, Ana’s Biotic Rifle suddenly changed from its standard coloration to its golden weapon variant. While the video ended shortly after this transformation, the Reddit user revealed that the golden weapon remained for the remainder of the match.
When posting the highlight to Reddit, Yama-k asked a simple question: “Is this supposed to happen?” Unsurprisingly, a number of gamers have responded, with the post gaining quite a few upvotes.
