A few of the changes to Mei in Overwatch 2 were so unexpected that a group of gamers started cracking up about it during a match. In many ways, Overwatch 2 is just a large patch for the first Overwatch. The game has added a few new maps, three heroes, and some fresh skins to match the aesthetic they're going for. Mei has received sweeping changes, most of which should be classified as buffs. The effect of her slow has gone from taking a full second to just a half second. Her damage has gone from 55 to 100 with her primary attack. Finally, the blaster got a larger capacity, moving from 120 to 150. So long as the bugs on her attacks and walls don't kick in, this initially looks positive. Unfortunately, there is a single nerf that may ruin the entire character for some players.

Mei can also no longer freeze-stun her enemies (except with her ultimate ability). That stun made her a hard counter to heroes such as Roadhog. Now she's exceptionally weak against him, especially if the player uses Roadhog correctly. Gamers who learn to master Mei will enjoy most of these changes, even if it does mean she can't reliably stun heroes anymore. The extra damage and quicker slow make her more viable as a DPS hero.
