Thirty years after Dr. Sam Beckett stepped into the Quantum Accelerator and vanished, a team of physicists are breathing new life into Project Quantum Leap.
The first full trailer launched this week(Opens in a new window) for the upcoming revival of classic sci-fi series Quantum Leap, set to premiere Monday, Sept. 19 at 10 p.m. on NBC and its Peacock streaming platform.
It's been nearly three decades since Sam (Scott Bakula) began leaping, and a new team of scientists, led by Ben Song (Raymond Lee), has assembled to restart the project "in hope of understanding the mysteries behind the machine and the man who created it," according to the show's official synopsis.
"Everything changes, however, when Ben makes an unauthorized leap into the past, leaving the team behind to solve the mystery of why he did it," NBC said. At his side is decorated Army veteran and colleague Addison (Caitlin Bassett), who appears in the form of a hologram only Ben can see and hear.
Herbert "Magic" Williams, the lead of the new Quantum Leap program and a war veteran into whom Sam leaped in season three episode "The Leap Home (Part 2) – Vietnam," returns, this time embodied by Ernie Hudson (Ghostbusters). The rest of the team includes Ian Wright (Mason Alexander Park), who runs artificial intelligence unit "Ziggy," and Jenn Chou (Nanrisa Lee), head of digital security for the project.
"As Ben leaps from life to life, putting right what once went wrong, it becomes clear that he and the team are on a thrilling journey," the synopsis said. "However, Addison, Magic, Ian, and Jenn know that if they are going to solve the mystery of Ben's leap and bring him home, they must act fast or lose him forever."
