The games arm of entertainment giant Warner Bros has bought the developer of Multiversus Player First Games.
That's according to Variety, which reports that the studio will still be run by its co-founders, Tony Huynh and Chris White. They will be reporting to Warner Bros VP and studio head of its San Diego games division, Carlos Barbosa.
No figure has been put on the deal.
Player First collaborated with Warner Bros on its character brawler Multiversus, which officially launched in May following a strange beta period in 2022.
“We have worked with Player First Games over several years to create and launch MultiVersus, and we are very pleased to welcome this talented team to Warner Bros. Games,” David Haddad, the president of Warner Bros' games arm said.
“The bright and creative team at Player First Games adds to our extensive development capabilities.”
Player First co-founder Huynh added: “Our team is excited to join the Warner Bros. Games family, and we feel that this will be great for MultiVersus overall. We are working to make the MultiVersus game experience the best it can be and having our development team integrated with the publisher is optimum for the players.”
