Warhammer 40K: Chaos Gate Daemonhunters is an upcoming strategy RPG, where the player must control a group of Space Marines as they race to stop a deadly plague created by the forces of Chaos. Screen Rant recently took part in a hands-on preview event for the game, in order to experience a few of the missions ahead of Daemonhunter'slaunch on May 5.
Daemonhunters gives players control of the Grey Knights, one of the most feared chapters of the Space Marines. In Warhammer 40K, the Grey Knights are tasked with crushing the forces of Chaos, as well as any users of the Warp. Daemonhunters will give the Grey Knights one of their most dangerous tasks to date, as they arrive in a sector of space that has been infiltrated by the Plague Marines: the servants of Nurgle, the Chaos God of pestilence. The Grey Knights must race against time and stop the deadly Bloom from spreading throughout the galaxy.

Daemonhunters is similar to XCOM 2 in terms of its gameplay. The player switches between managing a ship and customizing soldiers, before sending small squads off to engage the enemy in turn-based battles. Stages in Daemonhunters are filled with crumbling gothic architecture, barely functioning industrial machinery, and the scorch marks of previous battles.In most tactical RPGs, the main tactic is to hide behind cover and use guns or heavy weapons to defeat enemies from afar. The Space Marines don't need to rely on these tactics, as they are heavily-armored shock troopers. As such, when a Space Marine enters melee combat, they have a selection of options, such as disabling the enemy's weapon or temporarily stunning them, which adds a risk/reward factor to melee
