Are you desperate to try the Diablo IV beta release? KFC of all places is offering access, but only if you’re brave enough to scarf down a gnarly fried chicken sandwich.
On Thursday, KFC kicked off(Opens in a new window) a promotion that'll award customers with early entry into the Diablo IV beta in return for buying the fried chicken chain’s notorious “Double Down” burger. The Double Down features two fried chicken filets in place of sandwich buns. In the middle is cheese, bacon and sauce—no vegetables or carbs here.
The sandwich, which costs $11.99 for a combo meal, also contains plenty of sodium. But brave warriors who ingest one will be awarded a code to an upcoming open beta round for Diablo IV that’ll take place between March 17-19.
The promotion offers a rare chance for consumers curious about the game to try out Diablo IV, without paying full price. Developer Blizzard is already offering early beta access, but only to customers who pre-order the game, which starts at $69.99.
Fortunately, you can buy the KFC sandwich without eating it and still get the beta access code. Gamers looking for a more traditional chicken sandwich can also opt for the “Bacon & Cheese chicken sandwich combo,” which features sandwich buns and contains fewer calories. For those willing to wait, Blizzard will also open up the Diablo IV beta to all users during the March 24-26 weekend. “During both the Open Beta and Early Access weekends, players will be able to intimately explore the early game of Diablo IV.
