Vikings: Valhalla Season 3 Casts Shang-Chi & Creed 2 Star
Florian Munteanu, who recently tore up a San Franciscan bus as Razor Fist in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, is headed for colder climates as he will be joining the cast of Vikings: Valhalla. Munteanu, who was born in Germany, had his first real break as Viktor Drago, son of Dolph Lundgren’s Ivan Drago in Creed 2. A boxer himself in real life, fighting under the name “Big Nasty,” Munteanu’s impressive stature then led to his introduction into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Recently, he finished shooting on bothCreed 3 and the upcomingBorderlands movie coming from Eli Roth.
Munteanu’s enormous frame is sure to fit in perfectly in the world of Vikings: Valhalla, where most of the talking is done via the sword. Announced shortly before the original Vikings series came to an end in 2020, Vikings: Valhalla takes place a century later and chronicles the lives of a few important historical figures who played big roles in the end of the Viking Age, including Harald Hardrada, Leif Erikson, and King Canute. The first season dropped in its entirety on Netflix in February of this year and was renewed for two more seasons a month later.

The historical guest list is only growing with the addition of Munteanu, as Deadline reveals he will be taking on the role of George Maniakes, known as Gyrgir in the Scandinavian sagas. A general of the Byzantine empire, Gyrgir was described as a fierce fighter, keen leader, and always loyal to the Emir. According to Deadline, Munteanu is currently filming in Ireland, the production hub for Vikings: Valhalla.
