In Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, players who purchase the DLC can access a number of items from past games, including Majora's Mask, but BOTW doesn't seem to understand how powerful this artifact actually is. The version in BOTW is a mere shadow of the one in Majora's Mask, and is more of a gimmick item than something that can be of real help when exploring Hyrule. It seems strange that it has so little power compared to the original mask used by Skull Kid, but it's also somewhat understandable for reasons of balance.
In Majora's Mask, the titular mask is an ancient artifact that once belonged to a long-forgotten tribe. After Skull Kid takes it for himself, it creates Termina, Majora's Mask's twisted world full of doppelgangers. It corrupts Skull Kid and transforms him from a harmless prankster into an evil villain before abandoning him and taking on a life of its own. It wields extreme power, enough to bring the moon down from the sky in an attempt to destroy all of Termina. In contrast, it has an abysmal defense in BOTW, and although it has another handy effect, it's not enough to compete with the original mask.

Other items added as DLC include Midna's Helm, the Phantom Armor from Zelda: Spirit Tracks, and even clothes modeled after Tingle, the infamous wannabe-elf that sells Link maps in Ocarina of Time. Most of the other items from Legend of Zelda's split timelines have greater armor than Majora's Mask in addition to more beneficial effects, so the mask may be the most powerful item
