The upcoming Overwatch 2 has revealed the dates of its closed beta, which will be available on PC, and for the first time on PlayStation and Xbox consoles. Overwatch 2 was announced at Blizzcon in 2019 and, with the exception of the initial reveal, new information about the sequel has been sparse. The first beta for the game took place earlier this spring and had limited access. This beta lasted three weeks and saw mixed reception from fans, with many concerned Overwatch 2 is too similar to its predecessor.
A new trailer for Overwatch 2 recently premiered during the Xbox & Bethesda Showcase as part of Summer Games Fest 2022. The big reveal finally gave fans a new look at the game, alongside a host of new details on its future. The trailer contained several updates and announcements, including new hero designs, an October 4 release date, and the perhaps surprising news that Overwatch 2’s multiplayer will be free to play. Junker Queen, a new hero who had been alluded to in the first game, was also revealed. The character will be one of several new heroes fans will get to play as, and the spotlight confirmed Overwatch 2's Junker Queen is a Tank who uses battle axes and guns.
