This past week Aspyr released Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2 on Nintendo Switch, less than a year after releasing the original Knights of the Old Republic on the platform. Part of the promise that Aspyr made when it announced Star Wars: KOTOR 2 for Switch was that it would also be delivering a Restored Content DLC, too, but it has since confirmed the DLC will arrive post-launch. Further details have since been confirmed, with Aspyr making clear players will have to create a new save for the Restored Content when it's available.
In a series of tweets, Aspyr clarified the situation to fans who were curious about how the eventual release of the Restored Content DLC would impact any ongoing game of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2. One fan asked whether they will be able to use their ongoing save or if they'll have to restart with a new game. Aspyr confirmed that any saves from the current version of Knights of the Old Republic 2 will not be compatible with the Restored Content DLC version of Star Wars: KOTOR 2.

While existing save files won't be compatible with Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2's Restored Content DLC, Aspyr also confirmed that players won't have to delete their old save files. They'll still be able to play the original version of Knights of the Old Republic 2, along with their saves, by selecting an option in the game's main menu.
