The publisher behind Vampire: The Masquerade — Bloodlines 2, coming to PS5 and PS4, will be automatically refunding all physical preorders, with refunds for digital preorders available on request. This comes as Paradox Interactive posted a development update for the game on its website.
While refunding preorders is usually a pretty good predictor of things going wrong behind the scenes, the message, attributed to the team working on Bloodlines, cites updating special editions as the reason, stating: “We remain just as dedicated to delivering a great Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines game as we were when we announced, and are looking forward to showing you more in September this year.
“We acknowledge it was a long time ago that many of you pre-ordered Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2. As development continues, we will be updating the game’s editions and bonus content, and we want to provide the best value to those of you who supported us via digital pre-order after all this time.”
The original Vampire: The Masquerade — Bloodlines, developed by Troika and released in 2004, is widely considered one of the best roleplaying games ever made, despite being released in a woefully unfinished condition. Set in the extremely adult World of Darkness, players take on the role of a fledgeling vampire trying to survive in a politically dangerous climate, with the various blood-sucking clans as lethal as any militarily trained modern-day monster hunter (there are plenty of those, too).
