Unique Item Changes Coming to Diablo 4 in Season 5
In Diablo 4, Unique items will be receiving significant changes to their design philosophy. We are taking a look at all of the changes coming to Unique items in Season 5.

Beginning in Season 5, players are going to be able to target-farm specific Uniques and Mythic Uniques (formerly known as Uber Uniques) from gambling (Purveyor of Curiosities), Helltide chests, and Whisper caches.
To make Uniques stand out and compete with Legendaries, the developers are making the following changes with Patch 1.5.0:
- Unique effects will have higher upper limits to their rolls and higher roll variability. (example: Uniques that increased damage dealt between x40-80% instead now roll between x40-100% or x40-120%)
- Affixes on Uniques will be updated to fit with the itemization changes introduced in Season 4.
- Affixes will be simplified, in turn removing many conditional affixes.
- Tempering Affixess will now appear naturally on various Uniques to make them compete with Legendaries. Weapons are now likely to have Weapon Tempering Affixes on them.
Uniques will have their power levels and affixes adjusted to better fit their theme
The developers want to steer away from Uniques that are generally good (like Tibault's Will) and would prefer Unique items to fit a certain theme. Currently, if a Unique item includes an Affix that doesn't usually appear in that slot, the developers have stated that they will limit the benefits of the other Affixes on that item to make it more equal to other options.
