With Diablo IV's first expansion, Vessel of Hatred launch, players are finally able to play with the new Spiritborn class. However, players have found issues when creating the new class. Blizzard has commented on two fixes for these issues on the official forums.

Expansion Required per Platform
The most common issue seems related to the expansion itself. While many aspects of the game are updated for everyone, in order to play with the new Spiritborn class, you must purchase the Vessel of Hatred expansion.
Note that the expansion is only valid for one platform, so if you play on PC via Battle.net and on Xbox, you will need TWO copies of Vessel of Hatred, one in each platform.
Pre-purchase rewards are carried over. The content in the actual expansion does not. You need TWO copies of Vessel of Hatred (one on each platform) for the below content.

Ultimate Upgrade without Standard Edition
Blizzard has identified an issue that some players were able to purchase the Standard to Ultimate upgrade without owning the standard version of the game previously. To fix this, players must purchase the standard version of the game.
We have become aware of the possibility where players could purchase a Standard to Ultimate upgrade without owning the necessary Standard Edition of Vessel of Hatred.
Players can fix this by purchasing the Standard Edition of the game which will complete the upgrade to Ultimate Edition.
