Ubisoft has labelled Assassin’s Creed Mirage its biggest new-gen launch so far in terms of unit sales.
The game was released on October 5 for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC, and an iPhone 15 Pro version is set to follow in early 2024.
“With the number of players being in line with past successful launches such as Assassin’s Creed Origins and Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, we are humbled by the positive reception,” Ubisoft said on Wednesday.
“We are proud to also share that Assassin’s Creed Mirage is the biggest New Gen launch in terms of units sales to date at Ubisoft (PS5, Xbox Series X-S).”
Mirage’s development was led by Ubisoft Bordeaux, the studio behind Assassin’s Creed Valhalla’s Wrath of the Druids expansion.
Billed as a love letter to the original Assassin’s Creed, gameplay is focused on parkour, stealth and assassinations, marking a return to the action-adventure style of games released prior to the more expansive RPG-style series entries Origins, Odyssey and Valhalla.
During the game’s first week, Ubisoft said payers have spent 479 collective years parkouring the rooftops of Baghdad and taken 60 million Leaps of Faith.
According to VGC’s Assassin’s Creed Mirage review, the game’s “short, sharp trip through the blood-soaked streets of Baghdad” offers “a welcome return to the series’ roots” and feels like “a breath of fresh air in the endless sea of open world adventure games”.
The game’s creative director, Stéphane Boudon, said in July that Ubisoft wasn’t planning to release any Assassin’s Creed Mirage DLC.
