Long-time design director at Call of Duty maker Treyarch, David Vonderhaar, has left the company after almost 19 years.
In a post on LinkedIn, the industry vet expressed his gratitude to his colleagues at the studio. Vonderhaar has left for another venture, though what exactly that is is not clear as of yet. Who knows, given how much money NetEase Games is pumping into the North American games industry, he may end up helming a studio for the Chinese giant.
"Thank you to the Call of Duty community for your passion and enthusiasm," Vonderhaar wrote.
"That energy has often fueled our determination as a studio and individuals. I will always be grateful for the opportunity to interact with so many of you directly online and in person. This energy will always be a massive part of me.
I am staying in the games industry, working on an undisclosed project I can't discuss yet, but I am excited about a rare and unique opportunity. I'll update you as soon as possible."
During his time at the studio, Vonderhaar has worked on the likes of Call of Duty 2: Big Red One, Call of Duty 3, World at War, as well as the Black Ops series and Advanced Warfare. That's on top of 2008's 007: Quantum of Solace.
