When it launches later this month, Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered will land on PS5 missing one fan favourite feature. You see, despite the trio of games promising a collective bounty of more than 300 trophies, the PS5 versions of these remastered classics are all missing their respective platinum trophy.
That’s according to Insider Gaming, who have managed to get their hands on the three PS5 trophy lists ahead of the trilogy’s release date. They’re all pretty stacked – with mostly bronze trophies – but there’s no platinum in sight. However, bizarrely, the PS4 version of the Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered collection features all 3 platinum trophies.
It’s not the first time a PS5 game has launched with an incomplete trophy list. While it isn’t unusual for some smaller games and indie titles to eschew PlayStation’s top virtual gong, platinums have vanished from AAA releases: for example, last year’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III. This is due to a change in Sony’s policy regarding trophies – games that effectively share the same client or launcher with another title (MW3 shares the same as MW2) can’t feature a platinum trophy. We also saw this with the PS5 version of Uncharted: The Lost Legacy which lost its platinum when featured as part of the Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection.
It’s a strange, disappointing quirk that will no doubt upset PlayStation’s nation of trophy hunters. What better way to cap off earning 100 tomb-raiding trophies than seeing that platinum pop immediately after?
It shouldn’t matter too much for those Tomb Raider fans dying to replay Lara Croft’s three original adventures, however. Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered has a release date set for February 14th, 2024, and will launch on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
This beefed up collection includes the first three games in the Tomb Raider saga, complete with secret levels and expansions, lovingly brought back to life with updated graphics and even a snazzy photo mode.
