Given the massive success of Spider-Man: No Way Home, many might assume the franchise will continue with another installment featuring Tom Holland. That might happen, but it isn't confirmed yet. Holland himself spoke about the future of the Spider-Man series in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, saying conversations about the «potential future» of the series have been had.
However, «At the moment, they are conversations. We don't know what the future looks like,» he said.
This comes after producer Amy Pascal plainly and directly said three more Spider-Man movies with Holland were in the works. «We are getting ready to make the next Spider-Man movie with Tom Holland and Marvel. We're thinking of this as three films, and now we're going to go onto the next three. This is not the last of our MCU movies,» Pascal said in November 2021.
In the EW interview, Holland said Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige and Sony Pictures boss Tom Rothman are «thinking of something» and working with Pascal on the future of the series. However, Holland said, «At this moment, I don't know what that is.»
He went on to say that he is «not really thinking about the future,» and is instead, «riding the wave of success» of No Way Home and enjoying that.
No Way Home wraps up the trilogy that began with 2017's Spider-Man: Homecoming. A sequel, Far From Home, was released in 2019, and No Way Home finished the trilogy in December.
Sony owns the rights to Spider-Man's theatrical appearances. There was a period of time when Sony and Marvel hit an impasse over Spider-Man's existence in the MCU, but the two eventually agreed to terms.
