Gone are the days of trying to find anime to stream online, legally or not so much, if you did not want to wait for the DVD release to maybe come out in your country. These days, streaming sites like Crunchyroll, Netflix, and Disney+ are regularly delivering anime the same day that it is released in Japan, legally and complete with subtitles. This has made being an international anime fan so much easier, and lets otaku around the world stay up to date with the latest anime.
But while a subbed release on the same day as its air date in Japan has become common for most anime, an upcoming anticipated anime is getting a very special and exciting treatment. Kaiju No. 8, a science fiction anime set to begin airing in the Spring 2024 anime season, is going to get something more than just a same-day subbed release. Kaiju No. 8 is getting a same-day multi-language dub as well.
Kaiju No. 8 is based on a manga that has only been published since 2020, but has already had to be reprinted several times due to its high demand. It is a science fiction story set in an alternate Japan where giant monsters called Kaiju run rampant. A branch of the military called the Defense Corps is responsible for fighting them off, and another organization called the Professional Kaiju Cleaner Corporation is stuck with the dirty job of cleaning up their remains.
Kafka Hibino is 32 years old and works in the cleaning crew, though he has always dreamed of being in the Defense Corps. When doing a job one day, a parasitic kaiju forces its way into his body, transforming Kafka into a monster. Using the new powers he has gained, Kafka begins to fight against the other kaiju, trying to pursue his dream of being a hero and fighting in the Defense Corps after all.
