One highly dedicated The Sims 4 player has recently gone through the effort of building a large apartment complex for mermaids. The images of their impressive feat of engineering later made the rounds on social media, eliciting praise from The Sims 4 fandom even though the building couldn't serve its planned purpose in the end.
Mermaids have been part of EA's hit life sim since June 2019, when the company released The Sims 4: Island Living expansion. The DLC pack introduced the tropical archipelago of Sulani, which provides players with the chance to behold, befriend, and even become mermaids, among many other kinds of activities.
Reddit user properjs appears to have been enjoying this part of the DLC so much that they have recently decided to build a sizable apartment complex for mermaids. They ended up with a four-story beach building incorporating half a dozen apartments in total, as well as several spacious terraces, all covered in and surrounded by idyllic greenery. Aside from Island Living, the location makes use of some furniture and decorations from The Sims 4: Growing Together expansion, as well as Jungle Adventure and Blooming Rooms Kit DLC packs.
The creator also used The Sims 4: For Rent expansion pack while putting together this impressive project, but was later disappointed to learn that water lots on Sulani cannot be used as residential rentals. Their carefully constructed mermaid apartment complex hence can't actually accept tenants. A reliable way to circumvent that limitation on the PC version of the game is to make use of mods that allow players to change lot types at their discretion. Venue Changes by Zerbu is one such mod that is still being regularly updated.

Even without the inherent ability to accept tenants, properjs's apartment complex impressed many a fan; the screenshots of their design feat garnered thousands of upvotes,
