Don Mancini, creator of the Child's Play series, has wanted to do a Chucky vs Freddy Kreuger (the latter from A Nightmare On Elm Street) movie for a long time — whether its showrunners know it or not, 2021's Chucky TV show has provided the perfect setup for this crossover. It makes sense to do this while Chucky is still in the public eye. Though the original Freddy hasn't featured in a film since 2003's Freddy Vs. Jason, his popularity within the horror community has never waned. A crossover with a more relevant character could be the most natural way to bring him back into the nightmares of general audiences.

The same can be said for the dream-stalking Freddy Kreuger, whose first appearance in 1984's A Nightmare On Elm Street sent shivers down the spines of anyone wanting a good night's sleep. He was last seen in 2003's Freddy Vs. Jason putting his finger-knives to use on the hulking, hockey-masked murderer from the Friday The 13th series of films.
