The MCU is slowly setting up new heroes, including potential members of a Young Avengers team, and the way the franchise is approaching that transition from established to legacy characters makes one DCEU mistake even worse. While Avengers: Endgame meant the end for the stories of a lot of characters, such as Tony Stark and Steve Rogers, it also meant a new beginning for the MCU – which was now open to new characters and arcs. Likewise, the DCEU is also bringing young and legacy heroes – but in a much different context.
With most of the more well-known Marvel heroes already introduced in the MCU's Earth-616, the only exception being the Fantastic Four and the X-Men, the next step for the franchise has naturally been the introduction of legacy superheroes such as Kate Bishop, Joaquin Torres as Falcon, She-Hulk, and Iron Heart. As for the DCEU, audiences will soon get to see Supergirl in The Flash, Barbara Gordon in the Batgirl movie, the second Blue Beetle Jaime Reyes in his own film, plus rumors of Dick Grayson existing in Batgirl.

Despite this similarity between the two franchises, the way the MCU is introducing its legacy heroes works much better than how the DCEU is doing it. DC has several young characters that could shine in the DCEU, perhaps even in a Young Justice movie, but their arrival in the franchise would make much more sense if the whole universe – including the Justice League – was already consolidated. There has been only one Justice League movie; Henry Cavill’s future as Superman is still up in the air, and it seems like a lot of the mentoring role will fall on the shoulders of Michael Keaton’s Batman – who is in both The Flash
