A new mainline traditional Zelda game (one starring the titular Princess as the protagonist, no less) wasn’t something many predicted they would see in the Switch’s final year, but The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom is almost upon us now, and excitement surrounding its imminent release is continuing to mount. Ahead of its launch, Nintendo has released an overview trailer to offer a final primer on the action-adventure title.
Though there isn’t too much new information in here, the new trailer summarizes and collates a lot of key details that Nintendo has shared on the game so far. It starts out talking about Echoes of Wisdom’s core narrative premise – which sees Zelda having to step up to save Hyrule after many of its denizens (including Link and the King himself) are swallowed whole by mysterious rifts – and the game’s setting of Hyrule and its many different biomes and inhabitants.
The trailer also goes over Zelda’s unique set of abilities that she’ll be able to use in the game, chief among them being her ability to use the Tri-Rod to create echoes of anything and everything imaginable. She can also use Bind to bind enemies and objects to her movements, or Reverse Bind for the opposite effect. Finally, she’s also capable of using Swordfighter Form, which, as its name suggests, temporarily gives her the ability to use a sword and a shield similar to Link.
Throughout her journey across Hyrule, in addition to taking on a variety of quests and side quests from NPCs, Zelda will also explore the Still World, a twisted, shattered, extradimensional space where you’ll be tasked with navigating many different challenges, including dedicated dungeons with their own bosses, similar to classic Zelda games. Check out the overview trailer below for more details.
The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom launches on September 26 for the Nintendo Switch.
