The was initially met with some skepticism, but glowing reviews and fan reception have clearly turned things around. Luckily, players have plenty to sink their teeth into, with multiple endings and plenty of collectibles and secrets to uncover. While most of this can be done in just one playthrough, players may want to consider starting a New Game+ save to see absolutely everything.
The unique New Game+ feature is one of the best parts of the , as it doesn't function quite like other games. Players may be a little surprised by it, but it all makes sense once it's broken down and is actually more rewarding than most New Game plus modes. Luckily, it doesn't take too much to unlock, but the pay-off is absolutely worth it.
Players will unlock the New Game+ option after beating the game and unlocking any of multiple endings. Once they have, players will need to head back to the main menu and select the New Game option. From there, they'll be able to toggle which Game Mode they wish to start, with the options being Default and New Game+.
Selecting New Game+ will inform fans that they'll unlock access to «additional items, graphic modes, and endings,» which aren't available in the Default playthrough. Once players have chosen the New Game+ option, they'll be able to switch between the unlocked Graphics Modes. It's a fairly simple system that isn't too convoluted to understand, but what carries over is a little more complex.
Absolutely nothing carries over into mode. This means all the progress, collectibles, weapons, and more will be lost once players start a NG+ save, and they'll have to find it all again. However, while players will start completely from scratch in a New Game Plus save — including having to find all the Memos, Glimpses of the Past, and Strange Photos again — there are some new features that are exclusive to NG+. For example, a New Game+ save is the only way to unlock chainsaw, as it's an exclusive item.
