While humanity has always suspected the gods walk among us, the people in Reus didn’t get the luxury of doubt. It’s hard to live a god-free life when they’re hundreds of feet tall, looming over the civilizations that thrive or die under their watch. The original Reus came out almost ten years ago now, setting players in control of the world’s giants to guide their people through the growing pains of civilization, all set on a side-view circular planet you needed terraform into an ecologically functional home. Each giant controlled a different type of terrain, plus assorted powers to bless the lands with the necessary diversity to sustain the growing needs of humanity. It was a unique and charming god game that did fairly ok for itself, and then ten years passed.
While the days of the annual sequel may be over that’s still a long time to go between one game and the next, but Reus 2 was announced today complete with a teaser trailer to set the stage. Giants walk the earth, foxes snack on bunnies, and humanity chills on the beach in preparation for the mad scramble towards a technology-oriented future. The stars are calling, but they can’t be reached without the constant guidance of the world’s elemental giants.
