Microsoft may have delayed the Forza Motorsport release date, it’s been claimed.
Xbox announced last June that the game would be released in the spring of 2023 and said separately it was scheduled for release in the first half of the year.
But during Wednesday’s Xbox and Bethesda Developer_Direct showcase, the latest update on the game only confirmed that it was still targeting a 2023 release, leading to speculation that it may have slipped.
Following the show, Giant Bomb reporter Jeff Grubb said he’d been told the game had been delayed until the second half of the year.
“What I’m hearing—I’m feeling pretty good about this after asking around a couple of times after hearing about it the first time earlier today—it does seem like Forza is going to slip later into the year and probably won’t be the first half of the year,” he said on Thursday.
Grubb added: “The timeframe I’m hearing for Forza is like Q3, and maybe even a little bit later than that.”
VGC has contacted Microsoft to ask if the game is still scheduled for release in the first half of 2023, as announced last year.
During Wednesday’s Xbox showcase, Microsoft confirmed a Minecraft Legends release date of April 18 and a Redfall release date of May 2.
Last year, Bethesda delayed Starfield‘s release from November 2022 to “the first half of 2023”. The game was absent from this week’s presentation as Microsoft has said it’s planning to hold a standalone event at a later date in order to “dedicate the proper amount of time for a deep dive” into the sci-fi RPG.
Meanwhile, a newly updated Forza Motorsport support page confirms that the Xbox Series X/S and PC game will also be playable on Xbox One as a cloud version.
