Tchia is a game that looks full of warm vibes, putting the player on a soul-jumping adventure on a blissful tropical island. Tune your ukelele for Tchia, an island adventure game full of sunsets, sea creatures, and a dangerous and oppressive god. While taking down a deity might not seem so calming, there are still plenty of warm moments in Tchia with new gameplay trailer and release date presented at today’s Sony State of Play showcase.
A coming-of-age narrative is at the heart of Tchia, as you embark on an adventure as the game’s eponymous protagonist. When her home is taken over by the tyrannical god, Meavora, Tchia must take it upon herself to save her father, and her home, and hopefully, take down a god. Like any good adventure game, you’ll encounter a number of puzzles, dangerous paths, and other nasty obstacles aimed to move Tchia away from her goal.
Tchia is greatly inspired by the island nation of New Caledonia and aims to introduce the “cultures, traditions, and languages” of this nation to a wider audience. Fittingly, the teaser showcases much of the island’s vibrant environments, and languages, all backed by a pretty beautiful-sounding soundtrack. You’ll also be able to transform into over 30 animals or hundreds of different objects found on the island to help you on your adventure.
Tchia has a release date currently slated for March 21 on the Epic Games Store and PlayStation. For those who are down to island around, you can also get the Tchia’s Oléti edition which will also feature a number of cosmetic items from different games, such as Sifu, Scorn, and Cat Quest. Check out the official gameplay trailer below for a look at what the game has to offer.
