Warner Bros. has kept the Mortal Kombat franchise going strong over several generations of consoles, but the developer may have accidentally confirmed the latest installment ahead of when it meant to. The most recent Mortal Kombat title was released in 2019, but based on the teaser from Warner Bros. Discovery, the next one may be on the nearby horizon.
During the latest Warner Bros. Discovery quarterly earnings calls, one of the executives confirmed that the company is working on Mortal Kombat 12 as has been hinted at alongside the comic book mashup Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. Though companies like Warner Bros. are known for confirming big titles during events similar to State of Play or E3, there are occasional tidbits that come out of earnings calls like the aforementioned one. Though Mortal Kombat 12 was teased during the call, it remains unclear just how long fans of the franchise will be left waiting until the next title releases.

Discovery quarterly earnings call which took the specific statement about Mortal Kombat and Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League and separated them from statistical and financial updates. The clip from Valliant Renegade begins with a Warner Bros. executive getting ready to sign off the call with a reference to «lots more to come» before dropping the news about Mortal Kombat 12 and teasing the upcoming release of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. It was confirmed during the Warner Bros. fourth quarter 2022 earnings call that both games are expected to release this year with «ambitious launch projections.»
