After nearly 10 years and a very troubled development, it looks as if Dead Island 2 is actually going to be released soon.
Yes, the game notorious for its lengthy production cycle has had the last laugh: its release date has been moved forwards(!) by a week.
First announced back in 2014, Dead Island 2 is now being developed by Dambuster Studios (2021's Chorus and 2016's Homefront: The Revolution) and has now shown lengthy gameplay footage of the long-awaited sequel.
RadioTimes.com got to try out the game and chat with the developers at Gamescom 2022 as you can see in the video above, which offers a neat and spoiler-free introduction to the game.

The Dead Island 2 release date is 21st April 2023, the developers have confirmed, and pre-orders are available now from the likes of GAME.
Yes, that's right – the game that was announced nearly ten years ago and moved between three different developers has done the unthinkable and had its release date moved forward.
The game was previously set to be released on 28th April, after being delayed from its earlier release date of 3rd February. Given that the game has now gone gold, another delay is quite unlikely. Looks like this game actually is getting released after all!
