The synopsis of The Flash season 8 finale has been officially released. The show is now one of the longest-running entries in the Arrowverse, which is the collection of DC Comics-derived series on The CW that began with Arrow and expanded to include series like Supergirl, Batwoman, and Superman & Lois. The Flash stars Grant Gustin as Barry Allen, who develops the power of super speed, which he uses to defend Central City from a variety of colorful villains along with a team of friends that includes Jesse L. Martin as Joe West, Danielle Nicolet as Cecile Horton, Kayla Compton as Allegra Garcia, and Danielle Panabaker as Caitlin Snow.
The Flash season 8 began airing on The CW on November 16, 2021 and is running for a total of 20 episodes until its finale on June 29, 2022. Although this season has averaged out at the lowest ratings of any season over the series' run, it hasn't made a substantial dip from season 7, which averaged out at around 1.58 million viewers per episode. Although there was a recent major shakeup in the Arrowberse and The CW at large as many series were canceled (including Batwoman, Naomi, and DC's Legends of Tomorrow), the series survived the purge and the network renewed The Flashseason 9.
