The Day Before is out on PC tomorrow, 7th December, and is supposed to be coming to PS5 at some point in the future. We noted back in February and again after the survival MMO's indefinite PS5 delay that something seemed slightly strange about this story, and developer Fntastic has released another statement, apologising for the lack of marketing and pushing back on allegations of «scamming».
On Twitter, Fntastic posted what it called «revelations», but it reads more like a preemptive counterargument to potential criticism. The developers asked forgiveness for «not doing the best marketing or teasers», explaining that they endeavour to «learn something new and improve ourselves every single day”.
The studio asked those sceptical of the project not to accuse them of „scamming“, claiming it „didn't take a penny from anyone“ or that The Day Before was an asset flip. Fntastic maintains that: „Our team worked day and night for five years to make our dream game a reality.“
Headquartered in Singapore, Fntastic definitely turned some heads when it defended the use of unpaid volunteers working on the game. According to the developer's website, more than 200 committed time and effort to the survival MMO with minimal compensation, alongside 120 presumably paid employees.
