A new illustrated tie-in book accompanying Matt Reeves' The Batman, gives an in-depth look behind-the-scenes of the film’s visuals and production process. Writer/director Reeves’ (Cloverfield, War for the Planet of the Apes) DC reboot was released in theaters on March 4th and has since become the second highest-grossing film of the pandemic era.The Batman stars Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Kravitz as Selina Kyle/Catwoman, Jeffrey Wright as Lieutenant James Gordon, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone, Colin Farrell as Oswald Cobblepot/Penguin, and Paul Dano as Edward Nashton/Riddler.
Inspired by DC comics like Batman: Year One and The Long Halloween, The Batman picks up with Bruce in his second year as Gotham’s titular vigilante. After a Zodiac-esque serial killer, Riddler, begins targeting the city’s elites, The Batman becomes a noir thriller as Bruce hunts Dano's villain and uncovers Gotham’s corruption for himself. Reeves’ unique, gritty take on Batman, his rogues gallery and iconic city has proven to be one of the most detailed DC films ever, and has been praised for its dark and grungy visual design.
