The World's Greatest Detective has typically chosen a Batmobile as his vehicle of choice in DC Comics, but in medieval times, Batman has settled on riding a dragon into the heat of battle. Since last November, DC Comics has been releasing Dark Knights of Steel, a maxi-series comprising a medieval version of its own universe. It's an epic magic-riddled fantasy where the end is nigh as the world turns upside down when a Kryptonian spaceship containing Jor-El and a pregnant Lara lands, moments before she gives birth to Kal-El. Nineteen years later, kingdoms fall into chaos when Jor-El is assassinated moments after telling Bruce Wayne that he is his father, making Batman and Superman half-brothers in this universe.
Bruce doesn't tell his half-brother the truth until Dark Knights of Steel #5 by Tom Taylor and Yasmine Putri. Upon the discovery, Superman shockingly betrays Batman when he takes a Kryptonite shard wrapped in lead armor and stabs Batman in his stomach, proceeding then to lift him high into the sky and plummet him into the ground. As heir to the throne of El in the midst of a war, Kal-El refused to allow anyone — not even a former friend and now brother — to challenge him for the throne. Kal-El left him for dead, not realizing a couple stumbling upon Bruce's body would nurse him back to health.
